Copa Airlines signs extended component services contract
MRO support for components of Boeing 737NG fleet
Copa Airlines, a leading airline in Latin America, and Lufthansa Technik AG have signed a five-year Total Component Maintenance (TCM) contract for the airline's entire Boeing 737NG fleet, currently consisting of more than 60 Boeing 737-700 and -800 aircraft. Respective services will also be provided to aircraft due to be delivered to Copa Airlines in the next few years.
"We were pleased with Lufthansa Technik's ability to customize its services to the individual needs of a growing carrier such as Copa, enhancing our already high degree of reliability," said Ahmad R. Zamany, Vice President of Technical Operations, Copa Airlines.
Joerg Femerling, Director Sales Latin America and Caribbean from Lufthansa Technik, said: "We are extremely proud that one of the leading carriers in Latin America has chosen our technical services for components. With our global MRO network we are prepared to guarantee Copa Airlines the high quality support they can expect from us."
Lufthansa Technik will support Copa Airlines at its main base of operations, the Hub of the Americas at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, Panama. A 24/7 "aircraft-on-ground" support guarantees a permanent global component support for the airline also in unscheduled situations. The Lufthansa Technik office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida will coordinate the customer support. Maintenance, repair and overhaul services will be carried out at Lufthansa Technik's component centers in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Hamburg, Germany.
